Does your organization need a coach?
It’s a critical decision in the operation of an organization.
Kobe Bryant NBA superstar from the LA Lakers won 5 NBA titles in his career. One story that most don’t know pertains to his relationship with Phil Jackson, his Hall of Fame coach. Kobe and Phil won 3 NBA titles in a row now commonly referred to as the “3 Peat”. Kobe did not like Phil, and he worked to get Phil out as the Lakers coach. Kobe was content to do it on his own.
After his firing Kobe had moderate success for the next few years and won no titles.
He then came to the realization that Phil made him and the team stronger. Phil was rehired as Lakers head coach and the team won 2 of the next 3 NBA titles before Phil’s retirement. Kobe came to realize that he couldn’t do as well as he could with a coach’s guidance and challenges. When they worked together, they were stronger as a team.
So, the question is, should you bring in a coach or should you go it alone?
